In Glasgow primary schools in 2014, 17.9% of pupils were recorded as having English as an Additional Language. This includes the categories - New to English, Competent, Developing Competence and Early Acquisition. The proportions and numbers of Glasgow primary school pupils who are recorded as having English as an Additional Language vary across the Glasgow neighbourhoods. 2.1% of pupils in the Baillieston & Garrowhill neighbourhood are recorded as having English as an Additional Language whereas this figure is 73.1% in the Pollokshields East neighbourhood. Some neighbourhoods have been removed from this chart due to small numbers. It should be noted that the total number of pupils in each neighbourhood can vary greatly so neighbourhood areas may not be directly comparable.

Neighbourhoods  - there are 56 neighbourhoods, or housing forum areas, in Glasgow.  Their populations vary from around 1,500 in Carmunock in the south of the city to over 20,000 in Hillhead and Woodlands to the west of the city centre.

The data shown in Charts 1 to 4 are taken from the Scottish Government. The data shown in charts 5 to 10 in relation to pupils who are recorded as having English as an Additional Language has been taken from the Glasgow City Council, Education Services school census data in 2014. Only data for pupils who attend a Glasgow school and who have a Glasgow address have been included in this. A proportion of Glasgow school pupils who live outwith the Glasgow city boundary have not been included. There are also a number of pupil addresses that were incomplete or inaccurate so were unable to be matched to a neighbourhood or SIMD decile. Due to these reasons, other sources of this information may be different.
