Scottish Cities

In SALSUS 2013, secondary schoolchildren who reported that they had previously had an alcoholic drink were also asked how many times they had been drunk.

Among 13-year old pupils in Glasgow, 6% of boys as well as girls  reported that they had been drunk more than 10 times. These proportions were higher than those in Edinburgh and the Scottish average.

Among 15-year old pupils in Glasgow, 25% of girls and 24% of boys reported that they had been drunk more than 10 times. These proportions were higher than those in the other major Scottish cities and the Scottish average.

The Scottish Schools Adolescent Lifestyle and Substance Use Survey (SALSUS) is part of a long established series of national surveys on smoking, drinking and drug use. The survey is conducted on a biennial basis, targeting secondary school pupils in local authority and independent schools.
