Scottish Cities

The proportions of secondary schoolchildren in Glasgow who report that they have previously taken drugs are slightly higher than in the other major cities in Scotland. In Glasgow more boys (14%) than girls (10%) report that they have taken drugs, a pattern which is repeated in the other cities and in Scotland as a whole.

 The Scottish Schools Adolescent Lifestyle and Substance Use Survey (SALSUS) is part of a long established series of national surveys on smoking, drinking and drug use. The survey is conducted on a biennial basis, targeting secondary school pupils in local authority and independent schools.
