In contrast to primary school meal uptake which has remained stable, school meal uptake in secondary schools has been decreasing across Scotland over the last decade. Uptake in all four cities is lower than for Scotland as a whole.  Glasgow has the second lowest secondary school meal uptake in the Clyde Valley region. Renfrewshire has the lowest uptake of all the Glasgow and Clyde Valley local authorities and South Lanarkshire the highest.

Notes on data
When counting the number of pupils taking school meals, Edinburgh do not include meals taken at morning break, whereas other local authorities do.
