Between 2010 and 2018, Glasgow consistently had the highest business start-up rate of all the local authorities in the Glasgow City Region. Some local authorities, such as Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire, have consistently had lower business start-up rates than in Scotland as a whole.

Note

Business start-ups are measured using VAT/PAYE registrations which are published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
