General election results: city comparison
Proportion of votes won by political parties in Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester, 2001-2019

Labour consistently received the most votes in the cities of Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester, until the 2015 general election, when the Scottish National Party (SNP) took the lead across the Scottish cities. Labour remained the most popular party in Liverpool and Manchester, but the support for smaller parties in that elecltion (2015), such as UKIP, increased at the expense of the major parties. In subsequent general elections, the SNP has remained the most popular party in Scotland's cities and Labour the most popular party in Liverpool and Manchester.
Note: The latest Council elections in Scotland were held in May 2022. The overall results for Glasgow are summarised by the BBC, while detailed results by Council ward are available here.
