At a European regional level, voter turnout at national elections in West Central Scotland is towards the lower end of the spectrum, akin to Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Swansea & the South Wales Coalfields.  The German regions and Limburg have very high levels of voter turnout, while the lowest levels of this form of civic participation are found in Silesia and Merseyside.
