Domestic abuse trends in Scottish cities

The rate of domestic abuse[1] incidents (per 100,00 population) in Glasgow is higher than the Scottish average (32% higher in 2018-19) and has been relatively stable over the last 10 years. Incidents of domestic abuse were slightly higher in Dundee than in Glasgow in the last year reported (2018/19).
Notes
[1] The definition of domestic abuse used by Police Scotland is: ‘Any form of physical, verbal, sexual, psychological or financial abuse which might amount to criminal conduct and which takes place within the context of a relationship. The relationship will be between partners (married, cohabiting, civil partnership or otherwise) or ex-partners. The abuse can be committed in the home or elsewhere including online’.
