The rate of overall crime recorded in Glasgow (717 incidents per 10,000 population) is 58% higher than the Scottish average (453 incidents per 10,000 population) and higher than in the other council areas within the Glasgow City region.  Glasgow's overall crime rate is three times higher than that for East Renfrewshire (240 incidents per 10,000 population).

Notes

Recorded crimes excludes miscellaneous offences and motor vehicle offences. Often crimes are not reported and so recorded crime numbers only provide a partial picture of true crime levels.
