Glasgow’s child population is much larger than that in neighbouring local authorities in the Glasgow City Region. It is the equivalent in size to the combined child populations of East and West Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

The percentage of the total population who are children varies slightly in each local authority. Glasgow has the lowest proportion of children (16%), while in East Renfrewshire one fifth of the total population are children.
