Greenspace in selected Scottish cities

The chart above compares greenspace and publicly accessible greenspace as a percentage of urban areas across four cities in Scotland. In these cities greenspace accounts for more than 50% of the urban area, but when publicly accessible greenspace is solely considered it only makes up around 40% of the urban area. Of the four cities, Edinburgh has the lowest percentage of publicly accessible greenspace (37.1%), while Dundee has the highest percentage (41.2%).

Glasgow has the smallest area of greenspace and publicly accessible greenspace per 1,000 people among the cities compared, while Aberdeen has the largest area of greenspace and publicly accessible greenspace per 1,000.
Notes
Publicly accessible greenspace is defined as all greenspace excluding private gardens.
