Non-white ethnic minority groups in selected UK cities

Glasgow has a relatively small percentage (12%) of non-white ethnic groups compared to the other selected UK cities. Birmingham and Manchester have the largest percentage of the population from non-white ethnic groups (42% and 33% respectively). Pakistani is the largest ethnic minority group in most of the selected UK cities, including Glasgow.

Around 4% of Glasgow’s population come from white ethnic minority groups. Compared to other UK cities, Glasgow ranks approximately in the middle. The highest percentage of white ethnic minority groups are in Manchester and Edinburgh (7.5% and 7% respectively).

1. 'White ethnic minority group' includes ‘White Irish’, ‘White Gypsy/Irish Traveller’ and ‘Other White’, excluding 'White British'.
