Post-Industrial Regions
Low birth-weight in post-industrial regions
In 2006-08, the proportion of low birth weight births was almost identical in all three regions. Between the early 1990s and mid-2000s, the proportion of babies born underweight was highest in Greater Manchester and lowest in Merseyside, but the variation in regional rates was very small.
Notes
The data and charts are taken from Poverty, parenting and poor health: comparing early years’ experiences in Scotland, England and three city regions, published in 2013 by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health.
