Historically, Labour has been the most popular political party in the city of Glasgow. In the 2015 general election, however, support for the Scottish National Party (SNP) increased dramatically at the expense of all other parties, and the SNP replaced Labour as the party most Glaswegians voted for. At the 2017 general election, support for the Conservative and Labour parties both increased and SNP support declined, although they remained the most popular party in the city.
Note: The latest Council elections in Scotland were held in May 2022. The overall results for Glasgow are summarised by the BBC, while detailed results by Council ward are available here.
