Violent Offenders by age and gender, Glasgow
NB: These data are from 2011/12. We are currently working on updating this section with data from 2014/15.
The chart above highlights the age and gender distribution of violent offenders within the Glasgow area during 2011/12. The chart demonstrates a significant increase in violent offences committed by males between 16 and 20 years of age. Violent offences are most prevalent among males aged between 18 and 25 years of age, accounting for 35% of recorded male violence. Female violent offenders were responsible for 26% of all violent offences in 2011/12 with the peak age range for female offending being between 24 and 26 years of age. Young persons aged between 12 and 18 years of age were responsible for 17% of all violent crime.
